EAGLES OF THE REPUBLIC is a political thriller and the third and final film in Tarik Saleh’s Cairo trilogy, following the success of The Nile Hilton Incident (Grand Jury Prize, Sundance 2017) and the Cannes winner Boy from Heaven, also known as Cairo Conspiracy (Best Screenplay, Cannes 2022). The film has also been selected as Sweden’s Oscar submission.

Egypt’s most beloved actor, George Fahmy, is pressured into playing the lead role in a film commissioned from the highest levels of power. He reluctantly accepts the role and is thrown headlong into the innermost circles of authority. Like a moth drawn to a flame, he begins an affair with the mysterious wife of the general overseeing the film.

Tarik Saleh wrote the screenplay and directed the film. The cast includes Fares Fares, Lyna Khoudri, Zineb Triki, Amr Waked, Cherien Dabis, Ahmed Kairy, Nael, and Sherwan Haji.
